    Re: cpu cooler

I'm personally a big fan of my CPU cooler, the NZXT Havik 140, but there are many good ones out there.

When I build my system last summer I first wanted to get the Corsair H80 AIO cooler, but after checking reviews and tests around the web I found out that the Havik performed better and more silent at the same price (back then), so I went with that. Its a huge monster though, so if you decide to go for it, make sure it fits your case and doesn't block any onboard features you'll want to use.

I've had my CPU up to 4.2 GHz with CPU never going above 51 degrees in any game I've played
My advice - never visit a short-url, no matter who gives it to you. You can't trust any source at any time when you don't know your target
Whitey:Snuggles: Zotac Zbox HD-ID40 (Atom d525, worst purchase ever on cpu), Patriot Pyro 60GB (Thanks to Tweaktown Giveaway), 4GB 800' DDR2 SO-DIMM
    Bcube (NAS): ASUS F1A75-I Deluxe, AMD A6-3500 @ 2.1GHz, LSI 9240-8i (M1015) controller, GSkill Ares 1866 8GB blue kit, 4x Seagate SV35.5 2TB, 1x Seagate Barracuda 1.5TB, 1x Samsung HD103UJ, 1x Samsung F4 2TB, Temp. Rebel9 Alu case, Corsair H60, 2x Icy Dock MB973SP-B, NZXT UI01, Enermax T.B. Silence on docks and cpu, Aurum 500W gold PSU. (Draws 65W average, doesn't peak above 100W at any time)

      Re: cpu cooler

Looks good but after measuring I've found nothing over 150mm high is going to fit. That bad girl is 166mm

Maybe a full tower is in order as I've noticed allot of coolers around the 155-160 mark

        Re: cpu cooler

they also brought out the little brother/sister to it with 120mm fans instead .. but don't know how it performs in comparison (same name, just with 120 instead of 140).

CPU cooler and PSU are the 2 hardest parts to chose when building a PC in my book. What I did was to pick the most recent review on cpu coolers and then check out the comparison charts to others, that's a good place to start and get a feel for what's around.

But I'm sure Wazza or one of the other smart people around these forums will see this thread soon and chime in with some input :)

The plan has changed for the moment. Impulse buying got the better of me so I now own a new case when it arrives
