Ultra budget server.

I'm looking to build a rather budget system to act as a bot server for mIRC, and also a fileserver. I have around $600 to spend on it, and want a new hard drive with it. Any suggestions?

firstly, do you have any old parts that you can use in it?
eg:
old pci video cards
old NICs

how big do you want the hard drive?

At that sort of money ur gonna be looking at a low end Duron, all in 1 mobo like the MSI 6378-L, 20gb drive. You will definitely need some of your own components if you are gonna make it under that $600 mark

for 600 AUD, you wont be able to get a very good PC, if you have to buy a monitor for it, you wont be able to get one at all. Lets say you have the monitor and need everything else.

Have you checked on Ebay? What about a local paper? The States have a paper caled the Trader filled with classifieds. Do you guys have anything like that?

We have a local paper full of ads but i dont know how it is in WA. Anyway they hardly ever have comp. ads in them

Hey Ehhe Yebeb don't be so hard on hbidad as I can see how easily the mistake was made. There are a lot of towns in Australia that unless you stated a state to go with the name I wouldn't know which one they were talking about. And PlasmaBurn's stats don't tell country. : peace2:
