  • help on upgrading

    hi ya all
    i need help on upgrading my comp. it is very old (4 years or longer)
    it is a:
    Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 1.80GHz Willamette
    mobo: MS-6524, http://www.msicomputer.com/product/d...c/ms6524gl.htm
    memory: sd ram ( i feel like in the stone age)
    Vcard: msi fx 5600 128
    harddrive: 40gig dunno brand (slow)
    psu: 240v dunno as well (loud)
    sony dvd burner
    liteon dvd
    diamond data cd burner
    floppy drive

    im on a very limited budget around 300 us, so im looking foward on just upgrading the mobo ram and harddrive (need help on those). Then when i do have a bit more money i will upgarde the cpu more ram better vcard . After that a new comp (bye bye intel and welcome althon)

    so please help my comp is really slow just running normal progarms,,, i hate waiting........

    For $300 you could probably get a fairly nice AMD CPU and mainbaord right now. You might be able to sqeeze 512 MB system ram in there on that budget if you look hard enough. I personally would wait until you dig up about $300 more then do a good upgrade including the video card. If you don't play video games, then I'd just get a new harddrive and live with what you have, then scrap the system save the harddrive and start fresh when your ready to upgrade.
