Problems with 3tb hard drive

as we can see in the picture,
the hard drive's first 2tbs seem to be working, but the 3rd tb just won't allow be to create a partition.
my hard drive is Hitachi Deskstar H3IK30003272SW, with an Asus P6X58D -e motherboard.
Anyone know how to fix this?

SeaGate E-Mail Tech Support WEB Site was up today and I finally got through to them. Here is their reply and it worked. Thank you and also thank you to their tech support.



Thank you for sending your Seagate E-mail inquiry.

I would try wiping the drive clean and starting from scratch. Please check what number the drive is detected as in your list of disks in your disk management utility. To access Disk Management, right click on Computer, go to Manage, and then choose Disk Management. Within Disk Management this drive should show in your list of disks in the lower portion of Disk Management (Disk 1,2 3 etc etc). Take note of the disc number for the drive. You will need it shortly.

**All data on the hard drive will be gone during this procedure.**

Go to DOS command line (click on “Start Menu”, then type in “cmd” in search textbox, and hit “Enter”)

* Type in “DiskPart” in command line and hit enter.
* Type in “list disk” in command line and hit enter to show all disks in this machine.
* Type “select disk (the drive disk number in disk management)” and hit enter to set the focus to the specified drive, for example select disk 1 and hit enter. (1 represents the number of your disk in Disk management.)
* Type “clean” to zero sectors.

Go back to Disk Management, you can see the disk is “unallocated” now. Right click on "Not initialized", choose “Initialize Disk”. Then the drive should be ready to partition and format.

Now right click on the "Unallocated" area
Select "New Simple Volume or New Partition"
Agree with everything until you see this:

Default
NTFS
New Volume = ( name the drive whatever you would like )

Then put a checkmark in the box "Perform a quick format"
Select Apply or start
When the drive is ready for use it will say NTFS - Healthy
