  • SSD has Write-Cache? Yes/No How to find out??

This thread is about determining if your SSD has or does not have Write Cache built-in. Make sure you go to each URL so that you and I are

reading from the same page of specs.

Under the Specifications section to the right it shows something called "Internal Cache" with a 64 MegaByte value.
Is this term "Internal Cache" the same, or generally considered to be the same as "write cache" or "write-behaind cache"?
Newegg.com - Crucial CT128M225 2.5" 128GB SATA II MLC Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Next is the SSD maker's own website, CRUCIAL.
Under the "Product Details" Tab as you scroll down the page.
The item listed as "Internal Cache 64MB DRAM"

Again, Is this term "Internal Cache" the same, or generally considered to be the same as "write cache" or "write-behind cache"?

The reason I care about the exact terminology of this Cache is due to a tweak related to the browser Firefox.
What follows is the verbatim "Tweak", mind you this is is you consider your SSD to NOT have Write Cache.

Firefox - Use memory cache instead of disk cache
Description: If you use Firefox, there's a way to write cached files to RAM instead of the hard disk. This is not only faster, but will significantly

reduce writes to the SSD while using the browser.
Instructions: Open Firefox -> Type about:config into the address bar -> Enter -> double-click browser.cache.disk.enable to set the value to False

-> Right-Click anywhere -> New -> Integer -> Preference Name "disk.cache.memory.capacity" -> value memory size in KB. Enter 32768 for

    32MB, 65536 for 64MB, 131072 for 128MB, etc. -> restart Firefox

So basically if your SSD does NOT have Cache then you do the above Tweak, otherwise you leave things alone, that is you continue using your disk space as cache instead of your ram/memory.

Can someone out there make heads or tails of all of this?

    thanks
USA Government should required by federal law to issue $2,500 vouchers to every citizen towards the purchase of a new computer system every year. ALSO, vouchers can be sold/traded/bought and combined, and vouchers have no name on them for combining and selling vouchers.
Can you imagine how many MILLION jobs this would create?

You should use this tweak for SSD no matter if your SSD has cache memory or not, which they all do.
