  • How do I recover from a harddrive error (Raid 0)

I have 2 WD harddrives raided together (Raid 0). I defragged last night and they seemed to hang when 98% done. I rebooted and found disc 0 has an error. Win XP can't recover from this anyway I know of. If I reset the bad disc to non-raid I'll lose everthing on it which is basically the same as destroying everything on both drives. Am I doomed to reformat?

Update: The bootscreen shows (S.M.A.R.T status bad backup & replace) for the drive. I cannot seem to format the drive, it goes very slowly and hangs at 11%, although the other drive seems to be fine. I have not tried to disable the smart feature in the bios but the drive was alright with it in the past so I assuming the drive is bad. What do you guys think?
