  • new HDD problems, please help me

Ok, here is my problem, I have a Sony Vaio computer with a Samsung 120 GB hdd with two partitions and I want to add a Maxtor 60 GB to my computer without using an ata card because I need more space, but everytime I hook it up and power on my computer it prompts me to select propper boot media and won't power up when the new drive is hooked up. I have asked many people what to do and they say something like I need a windows service pack one or later because windows limits the size to 137 gb but I just downloaded service pack 2 and I am still having the same problems. What can I do to get windows to boot up and and recognize the drive and allow me to install it. Thanks so much!

Have you made sure the jumpers are properly set on the hard drives? It sounds as if you're running into an issue where the original was set to cable select and the new one was maybe installed using the middle connector of the IDE cable?
