Serial Ata Seagate 160gb?

Hi there,

Does anyone know why my seagate is showing used space
68.9 mb out of 160gb when I have nothing on that drive?

I have formatted the drive in Dos and in Windows xp with no
success can someone help me please?

Yes I can?

It is a brand new seagate hard drive and has no windows on
it, it is set up as a slave. As I have 2 x maxtor 80 gig drives as
master and slave?

are you sure that Windows picked up the complete 160GB drive. could it be that block about hard disk size. i don't remember exactly but after some particular size your older BIOS might not detect full size of your HD.
also try sequoiaview http://www.win.tue.nl/sequoiaview/ and know what all files are taking up your space.

Don't certian pieces of hardware have to take up some space or even the file system? I know there is somthing that takes up a lil space. Just not exact on what.

No hardware does not but I think ya mean where a true 1GB = 1024MB but HDD manufacturers' 1GB is only 1000MB and the number of partitions ya will also effect size as the partitions themselves take up space.
