  • "cloning" c:\ drive

Hello and apologies if this is on wrong forum.

I am about to replace my old 20Gb hard drive with one of those new large ide drives with 8Mb cache.

What is the best way to clone my existing c:\ drive (and d: as well since the drive has two 10gb partitions) to a new hard drive so I boot right off from that after removing the old sparky err hard drive?

I reformatted and installed my WinXp just about two months ago and I really don't want to go through that again ...

    any advice appreciated.

ok, looking at your sig, you have an 8rda+, not sure wether or not your did, but mine came with Norton Ghost. you can use this to copy exactly the data on your old hard drive to the new one

EDIT: just did a quick bit of googling and found this guide on how to use ghost to cclone your old hard drive to a new one:

..and thanks for the link - seems to be just what I was looking for.

        Cheers!
