  • Llano A4 default cooler size?

    Hey,

Does anyone know the size (height) of the default stock heatsink and cooler of the AMD Fusion A4-3300M and 3400 is? Can't seem to find any information about it - need to make sure it fits into my NAS case before I consider buying it.

    Thanks in advance

    [Edit]
    - According to AMD support, for the 100TDW Llano CPUs cooler+fan its 58mm
    - My A6-3500's (65TDW) is about 44mm from PCB to top of cooler

My advice - never visit a short-url, no matter who gives it to you. You can't trust any source at any time when you don't know your target
Whitey:Snuggles: Zotac Zbox HD-ID40 (Atom d525, worst purchase ever on cpu), Patriot Pyro 60GB (Thanks to Tweaktown Giveaway), 4GB 800' DDR2 SO-DIMM
    Bcube (NAS): ASUS F1A75-I Deluxe, AMD A6-3500 @ 2.1GHz, LSI 9240-8i (M1015) controller, GSkill Ares 1866 8GB blue kit, 4x Seagate SV35.5 2TB, 1x Seagate Barracuda 1.5TB, 1x Samsung HD103UJ, 1x Samsung F4 2TB, Temp. Rebel9 Alu case, Corsair H60, 2x Icy Dock MB973SP-B, NZXT UI01, Enermax T.B. Silence on docks and cpu, Aurum 500W gold PSU. (Draws 65W average, doesn't peak above 100W at any time)

Re: Llano A4 default cooler size?

Finally got a reply from AMD about this, thought i share it out:

"The height of the heatsink/fan unit, from the motherboard to the top of the fan, is 58mm for an A8-3850. As this APU has the highest wattage requirement of the current APU series, it will come packaged with the largest heatsink/fan unit. All other fans will be equal to or smaller than this."

Re: Llano A4 default cooler size?

Thank you for posting this. It's really helpful to know that when I build small computers. Now I wonder what the height of the 65watt CPU heatsinks are with the fans attached.

Re: Llano A4 default cooler size?

Installing my system right now, will measure the height once i shut down the system to add my data disks (got the A6-3500 that is a 65' model). The one mentioned above was the only they had in the testlab according to the mail i got.

Ok thank you for your help. It will greatly help me figure a HTPC design.

Re: Llano A4 default cooler size?

one thing I'm a bit disapointed about with the stock cooler, is the "cooler pad area" of the cooler, its way smaller then the CPU. It might not be needed bigger, but the point-to-point it touches the cpu is significant smaller. Just as a headsup.

However, it seems to keep the temp at a normal level so far, I'm only using it for a NAS setup though and not running highend progs of it.
