  • Athlon Xp 2300+?

My buddie has a 2300+ and runs @ 2GHz with a multiplier of 15!!! I know that is 133 x 15, I looked here and couldent find it is there realy such a thing or was it modded(or special ordered) by emachines when he bought it?

Found out these things buy useing CPU-Z, didn't tell me the core though.

Never heard of one but then IBM use to put out some K6-2's that you could never buy retail so its likely the same case here.

eMachines did in fact have an AthlonXP 2300+ machine but I doubt it ran at 2GHz clock speeds. Here is a link from the AMD site with a little blurb about their partnership.

Accualy it was 1.99GHz according to CPU-Z with 15 times mulitplier which works out to 133 FSB as I said before. But would he be able to remove this CPU and use it another motherboard untill he can afford a nice socket A CPU, or is it particular to the emachine that it was designed for?

Just to stop a mass of recomendations, he dosent want to go with a A64 system... Though I havew mentioned it to him.

I can't see any reason why he couldn't use it in another mainboard.

I don't doubt that it was running in his machine at this speed, but I still have a lot of disbelief that the 2300+ processor ran at this speed in its native setting.

But yes, it should be a standard SocketA design and move into another motherboard.

Not according to CPU-Z... but this thread is done.

yeah I know that this thread is dead but I am running an Athlon xp 2300+ in a L7VMM2 MB that came stock in my Emachines H2341.The only mods I made were a stick of Hynix 512mb.pc3200 ddr ram and a Geforce FX 5200 128meg video card. not much but it works. The cpu speed is always at 1995mhz. but sometimes it runs at 2gigs without doing anything to it.and it plays all the newest games too(MOHPA.CODUO,BFV ...)plays great and runs great for under a thousand $$.

My friend got his under 700 but I could still build him a better system from scratch for cheaper...
