  • How stupid would I be if....

...I put my new Barton 2800+ into my old Aopen mobo to see if it worked. You think it would just clock it down to 133, or would it just explode. Im just wondering, cuz I dont have my 8rda3+ yet, and since I got this on ebay I want to make sure I didnt get fashizzled.

One of the biggest problems with running a newer processor in an older board are the VCore settings available. Many older mainboard cannot supply the lower voltage levels required for modern processors. So Wiggo is right as it probably won't post... because the voltage will fry the chip.

I think the chance of fryin' would be minimal but the BIOS doesn't support that processor so it wouldn't have the necessary information on it that is needed to power it up hence it just wouldn't post.
