Urgent help needed

Hi all,
Sorry for need help so urgently, but I'd like to start installing my new MOBO in the morning, I have a question and really don't want to wait for the computer shops to open. Will my AMD Athlon 2000 XP+ work in my new Asus A7N8X MOBO?

The reason I asked is that the book said " Socket A for AMD Duron / Athlon XP 2800+ or higher"

That had me confused.

Ok here I go being a dumb As&, but 2800 + or higher. Isn't the 2000+ lower?

I must be missing something here. But I'm trying to learn.
