  • Asrock 970DE3/U3S3: Building a computer

So, we've built a computer with everything new, except for the hard drive. On the hard drive, we have Windows XP Service Pack 2 installed.
When trying to boot up, we get this message:
Asmedia 106x SATA Controller Ver 0.90 AMCI Mode
Copyright (C) Asmedia Technologies, Inc, All Right reserved.
    Using PCIE Gen 2
    Can't find any device

Originally, we could run in safe mode, but now it only blue screens.
    Any ideas?

Here are the components of the build:
    Motherboard:
    ASRock 960GM/U3S3
    Processor:
    AMD FX 4100
    Graphics Card:

    RAM:
    G.Skill Ares 8
    WiFi Adapter:
    Roswill 300 Mbps USB
    Power Supply:
    Thermaltake 600W
    Hard Drives:
    Western Digital 160 gb
    Western Digital 320 gb
    Seagate 160 gb

I have the same error, and originally got blue screen. The BSOD was from the Windows bootmanager missing. You can
attempt to repair it, with XP easier than 7, by booting from disk and doing repair, or you can reinstall Windows.

Turn off SaTa 3 operation and USB3 operation until you have the drivers installed. It will BSOD until you do. Oh and make sure your Sata mode is in IDE or compatibility mode. AHCI will also give you BSOD.
