  • PC4000 RAM + Athlon 64 system

Ive seen pc4000 ram from crucial at bargain prices, is it worth getting for an athlon 64 system? or will the boards simply not run it?

Edit: 2x256mb of crucial pc4000 was 15% cheaper than 2x256mb of corsair pc3200 at my usual supplier

It'll work, and it's worth it if you can get it for a very cheap price. Crucial PC4000 isn't something I'd recommend in the States, but if it's priced really well for you, go for it... That's assuming you want to overclock the prcoessor and RAM. It's kind of pointless to have PC4000 sitting in there if you just leave it at 200MHz.

BTW, I wouldn't use 2x256MB on any Athlon 64 system. It limits your upgrading options on socket 939, and it's pointless on socket 754 as socket 754 boards and processors don't utilize dual-channel anyway. Get one or two 512MB sticks.
