  • Help choosing 6/12GB Tripple Channel Mushkin kit (GA EX58-UD5 & i920)

    Hello,

I have been very unlucky with OCZ3P1333LV6GK sticks, two RMAs. Not suprised of it when I read the comments about these here.
I decided to go for a set of Mushkins, 1600/1800, Tripple Channel, either a 6GB or 12GB (preffered) kit.
It is for my audio workstation, and I need stability above all. Also the better the performance, the more I m willing to pay, even if little gain (i.e. OK for redline).
Frankly Im lost in the RAM market, as there are plenty from same brand that look the same on the published specs, yet they are different (i.e. different chip used, or even a different quality of same chip).
I dont have space for Ridgeback HS, Frostbyte is OK. Redline HS seems same as Frostbyte, so that should work as well.
Hope this gives undertsanding of my needs. I would really appreciate your recommednation as simply anymore time browsing the "unbrowsable".

I prefer to shop from Czech Rep., though I can buy in UK an ship to London (don't know of any shops with good reputation).

    My options in czech are:
    6GB: www.alphacool.cz -- Mushkin RAM 3x2048MB DDR3 1600 9-9-9-24 Silverline
    12GB:

    Many thanks for your time!

That's not cool your choices. The best performance is 1866 from 1600 through 2200. Either using 1866 in XMP so your not using default or running 2000 and running default 1866. Muskin has some real good memory.

...sorry was stuck with many other stuff...

        Hi Jim,

and thank you for the links. None of the items in reviews I can find as active models on mushkin. Even worse, most of the mushkin listed "live" modules are not stocked in online stores (uk, cz).
Out of the units I find available online, rarely they are CAS 8 (12GB tripple), more often its 9 or 10.
It seems the market is somewhere totaly different (quad channel, etc), or Im misunderstanding what is the high performance standard now(CAS?, Mhz??).

I will definitely get in touch with Mushkin directly, they could help me to source some modules, but first I need to understand what I need.
        Would you have any suggestions?

        Hi Odiebugs,
what module would you suggest from Mushkin, given my requirements?
I think US store will offer dofferent modules than uk, but at least i can an idea.

        Thank you,
        Petr

Send a private message (PM) to wazza300 and ask him for good shops in the UK.
Did you post in the Mushkin forums to see which memory kits they recommend for your motherboard?
Maybe they can direct you to local shops that sell their memory.
Can you easily buy from other European countries?

I like ocz memory, the cheaper gold and platinum memory isn't so good,I've used lots of reaper kits and all have been 100% stable at 1800mhz so I would look for those

            Good sites in u.k are

            Computer Supplies from Novatech

Cheap Laptops, Computers and Cheap LCD TVs | Ebuyer.com

Amazon.co.uk: Low Prices in Electronics, Books, Sports Equipment & more

the tall heatpipes might be a problem on the ocz reaper memory, ive also used samsung green memory in my sig which works well on x58 boards too and is super low profile so no clearance issues

On gigabytes with 1366, I have had no problems with GSkill, Kingston, Patriot.

You want DDR 2000, this way your close to 1866 at default without OC the memory.

The best place to look at memory is a place called Newegg, you can pick the speed, size and see what they have, and they keep up on new memory.

              Here is what I would get, but its expensive. Newegg.com - Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 12GB (3 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2000 (PC3 16000) Desktop Memory w/FrostByte Heatsink Model 998990

Look around newegg, maybe you can find one you like that you can get.

You want- DDR 2000 or 1866, but you have to clock up the 1866 from default, you want three stick for triple,.

Personally I'd go with three sticks of 2g, I run 6g and can convert a movie, play crysis, surf the web and run a virus scan, run AutoCad, and not use over 4g memory all at the same time.

              Here is another 12g that's cheaper Newegg.com - Mushkin Enhanced Redline 12GB (3 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 (PC3 14900) Desktop Memory Model 999052

You do NOT have to worry about the 1.5v, you should be able to run the 1.65 with no problem, if you don't want to take my word, just send gigabyte an email asking about memory at 1.65,
they will more then likely tell you the board will bump up and it will be fine.

If you look at your Qualified Vendors List (QVL) for your MOBO, notice they tested mostly Kingston, GSkill, AData.

Hi Wazza, thanks for the message. I understand OCZ is out of Memory business, not sure its wise t buy it. I wouls also imagine that the good models are gone.

Hi Jim, finaly got to write to Mushkin. Dont mean to be ovrhyped up about them, but if they have a good attitude, I imagine they will help out with a kit.

-----All kits are now qUad channel, looks like my computer is Ancient already before i started to use it:)
