  • G.Skill DDR3-1600 timings and voltage

    Hi all,
So, I just got my new rig going, and I've already run into a tiny issue.
My RAM is supposed to be as follows (DDR3, link to Newegg product page):
    1600 MHz, 6-8-6-24 @ 1.6V
The problem is, my motherboard only lets me set the voltage to 1.59 or 1.61.
I tried 1.59V with the specs above, and the computer would not boot.

Would I be OK in setting the voltage to 1.61V, since the difference is minimal?
    My rig:
Cooler Master Storm Sniper Black Edition
    Thermaltake W0229RU 750W Modular PSU
    Gigabyte GA-890FXA-UD5, BIOS F1
AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition, 3.2 GHz
    G.Skill DDR3-1600 2x2 GB (F3-12800CL6D-4GBPI)
    Gigabyte GTX 470 1280 MB

Use 1.61, it will be less than that after small droop anyway.

This is normal, we all use 1.66 for 1.65V

Setting 1.61 may not get you booted either though if you have other settings off, sorry though I can't really help with AMD though.
