  • PLZ help, My MOBO and RAM not working properly

    Hey guys I currently have a Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3P ATX AM3 DDR3 AMD770 motherboard, and this RAM G.SKILL-Products

I Ran MEmtest and I got over 100 errors, and beside where it says CAS, it says the timings are 9-9-9-24, when they should be 8-8-8-24. I honestly have no idea what is causing all these problems. My games are running messy, my internet browsing is messed.....I'm really fed up. My benchmark scores, windows ratings, and CPU temps are all fine, but my RAM is not working well with this motherboard.

    Plz give me some advice

    Thanks

Re: PLZ help, My MOBO and RAM not working properly

How can you benchmark properly if the RAM is failing on your motherboard??

If the CAS timings are 9-9-9-24, then change them to 8-8-8-24, set the timings according to the information your given on the RAM package. If the RAM has an XMP profile (most likely not) then choose the XMP profile.

Can u also give us the rest of your system specs? e.g CPU etc....

I don't know how the benchmarks are getting good scores, but I can tell you that i'm getting over 100 errors in memtest. I set the timings to 8-8-8-24, and im still getting errors. I'le try the xmp profile, just not sure where to look.

Which slots did u put the memory in? both in Blue or one in white and other in blue?

To run in dual channel u must put both in blue, if errors still occur, try only one module in the top most blue slot and check each module individually for errors so maybe u can RMA it if its faulty.

Re: PLZ help, My MOBO and RAM not working properly

Okay so you;re saying I should put them side by side in the blue slots? Il'e try this and then if that doesnt work ile put them in one at a time and test. Before I had one card in the furhest white slot, and one in the blue slot in the middle.

Re: PLZ help, My MOBO and RAM not working properly

yeah, you did it wrong unfortunately.

Put both in blue slots then memtest again, if doesnt work put a single one into the topmost blue slot (closest to cpu socket) and test each module individually.

Also I was wondering what amount of errors is acceptable? I need to know wether to send the sticks back if they not working like they should.

Re: PLZ help, My MOBO and RAM not working properly

ZERO errors is the only acceptable value, did u do wat i told u to do?? try putting them both in blue slots and see if it works.

If NOT then plug each module individually in the topmost blue slot and check for memtest errors.

If any errors exist on any module, then u must check if anoher person is having the same issue, e/g try to put it into a friend's computer OR go to a compter shop and test it.

If it fails then u know got a dud module then u can RMA it.

Re: PLZ help, My MOBO and RAM not working properly

I tried running them in dual channell like u said in the blue slots and it still failed, and the test stopped once I hit 64 errors. I tried to find the voltage in the BIOS, but I couldn't find the place where I can see if it is running at 1.5 volts. If posibly changing the voltage fails, I guess I should RMA?

Re: PLZ help, My MOBO and RAM not working properly

U must go to MIB Motherboard intelligent tweaker and voltages can be found there.

Plus, B4 u RMA, you must test EACH module individually!!!

So unplug both modules, and run memtest on each module seperately and see if it has errors.

Re: PLZ help, My MOBO and RAM not working properly

Hi We can help. Below is the PDF of Motherboard GA-MA770T-UD3P (rev. 1.0) give it a little time to download.

I have noticed that some GA-MA770T-UD3P motherboards prefer the modules to be in the 2 white slots. Also to find current voltages look in PC Health Status to get the true voltage readings. Below is a template please print it and use it to get your PC Health Status numbers and settings out of BIOS and POST them here.
                      Code:

Below is the web page for your motherboard BIOS update. Providing you need to update. Click on it Scroll down to locate the proper BIOS for your rev. If it is (rev. 1.0) use BIOS F4. If (rev. 1.1) use BIOS F5. You definintely should update the BIOS to the newest update. Never use @BIOS for flashing. Use QFLASH. Instructions: http://forums.tweaktown.com/f69/bios...h-guide-27576/
Also install 1 memory module and set BIOS to Load optimized defaults before flashing your BIOS. Here are some bios templates. Print them and put your bios settings on them now Then use them to POST your BIOS settings. Do not set your BIOS with them. You can change the red ones to try NOTE: On your Bios the 2 columns of numbers that are grey on the right are for SPD and auto reference only.

I did test them both and one is definately defective. I'm running on 2gb stick till i get a replacement i guess.
I cant run mw2 maxed out with only 1 stick tho, is that normal? And I went into the system voltage and checked everywhere. The low I can set the voltage for the RAM is 1.6v which is "normal setting".

Or try fail safe feature in the bios if it works fine, set things slowly one by one.
