Hello all...This is my first attempt at overclocking and any help would be greatly appreciated!!! I have been testing various memory with Memtest86+ v2.11 so I could begin overclocking but I'm not sure I can trust the results I'm getting!
So far I've tested the following:
Two sets:
Crucial Ballistix 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model BL2KIT12864AA1065 - Retail
No errors either set.
Two sets:
G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel ... - Retail
First set - no errors ; Second set - errors on test #5 for each stick.
One set:
CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TWIN2X2048-6400C4 - Retail
No errors.
I have tested each individual stick of memory in each of the 4 DIMM slots, with the proper voltages set manually in the BIOS. Without exception Memtest86+ reads the memory in slots 1 and 2 as DDR2 and the memory in slots 3 and 4 as DDR3! This doesn't seem normal but I'm new to this! I will RMA the G. Skill memory if it is truly bad but I'm still concerned about the DDR2/DDR3 anomaly! Is my motherboard defective as well??? Please help!
System Specs
GA-P35-DS4 Rev 2.0, BIOS F13, E8400, Noctua NH-U12P, WD Raptor 150GB, G'byte Odin GT 800W, Asus 8800GT, Vista Ultimate x64 SP1
