i wonder what the difference is in two 1gb sticks of memory vs. two 1gb sticks of dual channel memory? i thought any two of the same sticks can be dual channel? does it increase performance if its dual channel or not? can someone explain it?

Re: whats the difference in memory?
There's no such thing as dual-channel memory. Two identical (or close to it) sticks of RAM can be run in dual-channel mode in a compatible system. The RAM itself is not dual-channel. Any RAM advertised as dual-channel is simply two identical sticks sold together to make dual-channel easier and more likely to work (buying two of the same stick will occasionally yield two sticks based off similar, but different memory).
