Turn a 2Wire 1800hg into a router only

I have just recently switched from AT&T DSL to Cable due to a problem AT&T decided not to tell us about, and cutting off our internet without telling us.

Anyways, I was wondering if I could just turn the 2Wire into a router only, disabling the modem part.
