  • Trouble setting up network

I have read many posts and guides on setting up my home network and just can't get it to go properly. I am attempting to network my laptop and desktop. Desktop is running Win XP Home and the laptop is running Win XP Pro. The laptop seems to be configured and working properly, i.e., it can see the desktop and itself when I go to "view workgroup computers". The desktop however gives me the following message when trying the same:

" ******* is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource. Contact the administrator of this server to find out if you have access permissions.

The list of servers for this workgroup is not currently available."

Any help is appreciated. Thank you all in advance.
