    Sup all,
I have a strange problem occuring with my computer. When my computer is off, it will turn on whenever someone calls my house. My phone is hooked up to the telephone line on my computer's modem and my modem is hooked up to the wall. Now, I'm thinking that maybe my modem has an aspect similar to the wake-on lan feature that ethernet cards have. But whatever it is I don't know how to disable it. Now I know you're thinking, "Why dont' you just get DSL or cable and be done with it? Then you will have no need for a modem." Well, I plan to, but I just moved and I need to find a good provider first for my new area. In the meantime, I'm just using a free dial up provider. Anyways, any ideas? Thanks.

Go into ya BIOS and turn off "Wake on ring" and/or "Wake on Event" (some BIOS' may word these differently like WOL or WOR) in the "Power Management" section.
