Is there any way to make a dial up connection more stable through any settings that you are able to change? Such as lowering the maximum rate of data transfer or the speed that you connect at? For instance, lately I have been connecting at 28.8 bps, which is good for me because I normally connect at 26.4, and yet I have experienced alot more disconnects and would rather connect consistantly at 26.4 with no random disconnects. I know that it is a possibility that the isp is to blame, but is there ANY way I could tweak with some settings to make it more stable? Thanks a ton.

Zip 100 internal drive and a generic 3.5 floppy drive. Windows XP Professional Operating System. I also have a HP Deskjet 3520 inkjet printer and a KDS X Flat 17 inch CRT monitor. -
have you tried looking into a faster connection? Modems can only run so fast, but you might try a different modem all together.Comment
