If you're running windows 2000 or XP, you need to go to the Microsoft Tech Support site and read about "Hardware Abstraction Layers". This should clear up any misapprehensions you may have. Then come back here and post more complete system info: m/b, processor, o/s, driver revs, you know the important stuff.

p.s. Have you installed all the security and performance upgrades for windoze and do you have ALL the latest drivers for your m/b, video card, pci bus cards?
