Re: My Gigabyte BIOS hangs up at the loading Screen!Virus?

Does an AMD single drive raid array noticeably improve hard drive performance?

If you don't want to do the extra steps to create a Macrium winPE bootable disk, you can quickly create the default Linux bootable disk.
A winPE disk is supposed to let you do more than you can do with a Linux disk, it's up to you.
Let us know how everything works out.

The first and only AMD setup I ever had was a K6, quite a while ago.

So you're saying I should use Macrium to backup the hard drive and use the WinPE AIK file as bootable disk to bring the OS back up if the hard drive should fail?

Re: My Gigabyte BIOS hangs up at the loading Screen!Virus?

When you create a Macrium bootable optical disk, the o/s for the disk will use winPE as the o/s or Linux.
Linux is probably good enough, but winPE is better.
Check the Macrium user manual to see if there is an explanation about additional features that are only available with a winPe Macrium recovery/backup disk.

I've seldom needed to restore my system partition from a non-windows backup, but the key word here is seldom. If your o/s gets corrupted and windows can't repair or fully restore your boot partition, if you don't have a 3rd party o/s backup image available, your only option is to reinstall windows and then reinstall all of your programs. Win7 Restore and Repair have worked for me, except once when I need to manually restore win7 using my 3rd party backup.

I never keep any data file documents, photos, or music files in my o/s boot partition, I keep these other files in other partitions, such as:
        D:\ temporary and downloaded files.
E:\ My Documents folder as well as PDF files
        F:\ Music and Photo folders
G:\ Windows Backkups from windows and Macrium backups.
My system uses an ssd as my boot drive and the remaining partitions are on my hard drive.

I also keep the two most recent Macrium or other software backups on an external hard drive that is only connected when I'm backing up any of my partitions or folders.

A partition backup or restore should take about 20 minutes or less.
It's up to each person to create a partition structure and backup routine that works for them.
I use windows backup once per month after the monthly windows updates are applied.
I perform 3rd party o/s partition backups once or twice a month.
Some people with important daily files will also perform daily folder backups.

There are many web tutorials that discuss optimal backup procedures.
