Re: Message I have never seen before

Does anyone know anything about MSI. I talked to tech support and they think I need to RMA it. Well, great but I can't be without a card. Do you know if they will cross ship? I have not been able to talk to their customer support yet to be able to find out if they cross ship.

Re: Message I have never seen before

Is your Hawk video card overclocked? If yes, what settings are you using?
What happens if you run with stock cpu and memory settings? Does the same error occur?
Are there any abnormal temperatures when the error occurs?
Are reported voltages within reason?
Which Nvidia driver version is installed? Is it a beta driver? WHQL?

I've had my N460GTX Hawk for just under a year and never had a problem, even when running graphics benchmarks with extreme Hawk overclocks. I bought an N460GTX Hawk Talon Attack several months ago and haven't had any problems with both of my cards overclocked and running in SLI in my N650SLI-DS4 system.

Do a web search using: msi rma cross ship
to see what others have to say.

Re: Message I have never seen before

It is this one right here Newegg.com - MSI N460GTX Hawk GeForce GTX 460 (Fermi) 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card It is just the way I bought it with these settings. Is this not slightly oc from the factory? Not sure of the driver but will check tonight.

Re: Message I have never seen before

There are only two N460GTX Hawk models; the standard Hawk and the Hawk Talon Attack.
• GPU = 675MHz and Memory = 3600MHz <-- Nvidia GTX 460 reference settings
• GPU = 780MHz and Memory = 3600MHz <-- Hawk default overclock settings
• GPU = 810MHz and Memory = 3900MHz <-- Hawk Talon Attack default overclock settings

My question was a bit vague, I meant to ask if you have overclocked you Hawk's gpu and/or memory above its default o/c settings. A year ago, my Hawk came with 258.xx drivers on the installation CD. For the past few months, I've been running with the 280.26 WHQL drivers.

Right now, the latest WHQL drivers for win7 x64 and the 400 series cards can be download from Geforce.com -- GeForce 285.62 Graphics Driver.

Re: Message I have never seen before

I knew that you had the regular Hawk version from your Newegg link.

If you're using very old Nvidia drives (e.g. year old 2.60 drivers) that might be the main problem with your brand new hardware.
Open the Nvidia Control Panel and you can easily find the version number of your installed drivers by clicking on System Information in the lower left corner of the window. MSI AfterBurner and GPU-Z will also display the Nvidia driver version.
