video files not playing

I cannot play video movie files if my computer has been on for over 12 hrs. I have to reset and then they play fine. This applies to avi, divx, mpg files when I use windows media player, winamp, or divx player. Quicktime works fine. The audio plays, but the video doesn't. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Either your system simply isn't stable, due to overclocking; bad cooling; insufficient power; or all three, or you have some sort of virus; spyware; or running program that gets particularly bad after running for so long.

what operating system are you using?
if its windows 9x then it may be the cause of the problem. it doesnt free up memory when programs finish using it.
if its xp then its probably a program like yawgm0th said
