Logitech G9 question

I just got a new Logitech G9, upgrading from my MX900. I was using Uberoptions with the MX900 to assign my forward/back buttons to shift/ctrl (respectively). The G9 doesn't seem to have any native ability to do so, besides the macro manager, and that's not doing what I want. Does anyone have any idea how I can make the G9 do what I want it to?

Go into the Setpoint and make a new profile, then set your buttons, it can be awkward, this mouse looks easy but is fiddly
