  • Which is faster?

I would appreciate any info you guys could give me. I have talked to a few different people but they all give different answers. I have a DVD read only drive and a DVD writer drive. I have noticed that when I am reading a DVD while copying a DVD I get half the performance of using one at a time. They are on IDE and I have my hard drives on SATA. Is it faster to have them both on the same channel and one as a slave, or would it be better performance if I made them each a master on their own IDE cable (I have the two since I use SATA drives). Again, any input is greatly appreciated.

Having both as the master of each channel as while any 2 devices are connected to the same IDE channel each device has to take turns at using that channel as the IDE channel can only support 1 device accessing it at a time.
