i was thinking more along teh lines of us dial uperers being able to connect to a server at the event. if it is, i'll head over to dads work for some ADSl action

... You made no sense then. First you say that you want all dial-up people to be able to connect if possible. and if they can, then you'll go use ADSL.. Why not just ask if ADSL users can log on? :?:
