    Hitman 3 Contracts trailer

    <img src="http://images.tweaktown.com/weta/games/hitman3logo.jpg">

Eidos today announced Hitman 3: Contracts is being developed by Io Interactive and will be available for PlayStation 2 , the Xbox, and the PC in spring 2004.

Hitman: Contracts takes you into the mind of Agent 47, the most ruthlessly efficient contract killer in history. The game begins in Paris as Agent 47 finds himself wounded and trapped in what is a dangerous situation, even for him. Hitman: Contracts explores the dark psychology of killing for a living and promises to be the darkest, most disturbing episode in the series.

Downloaded the trailer, and even though it was all cinematic footage, I must say that I was very impressed. The game seems to have an even darker mood than Hitman 2, which is a good thing, in my opinion. The actual quality of the cinematic was also very nice...looked nearly real in terms of animation, which is definetly a pro, especially if it carries on into actual gameplay.

    Definetly pumped about this one.

If the actual game graphics look anything close to the trailer, I will be truly impressed.

As the game is being co-developed for the PS2!! and x-box don't expect anything amazing in the graphics department as that is pretty much impossible in co-development:(

Not necessarily, rugby. Just because the game is being developed on multiple platforms doesn't mean the game will have bad graphics. Take UT 2003 and Unreal Championship, for instance. They were both developed simultaneosly, are nearly the exact same game, but the PC version plays vastly different, the graphics are much nicer, runs smoother, et ceteras...

Just because a game is coming out on more than one console doens't mean that they can give certain versions exclusive features. I'm thinking the game will feature Splinter Cell-esque lighting, though probably not quite as detailed, and the game will most likely also benefit from bump maps, high-res textures, and highly detailed character models. In other words, it'll look like the cinematic trailer, just with lower-poly models and slightly lower resolution textures.

I'm also wondering why they don't have Gamecube listed there. The game will almost certainly be on Nintendo's console, seeing as how the first one was...I'm expecting a later release, though I don't see exactly why (Nintendo fan here, so I get mad about this stuff  )

And it's not the graphics in a Hitman game, it's the sheer awesomeness of the gameplay.

God damn I love the Hitman series :).

considering that unreal championship was released quite a time after 2003 and was released on the X-BOX!!!!! that is a very bad comparison. Anyway it is going to be a hell of a job to sell the ps2 version if the pc graphics are alot better, do you not think? Then again look at splinter cell, crap on ps2 amazing on pc. Lets just wait until we get some screenshots hey??:thumb:

While I agree that gameplay is important, be honest with yourself and answer this question:

Would you buy a game with great gameplay but really crappy graphics?

IO Interactive says that the game will use a brand-new engine that will rival anything on the market come spring 2004, so I think we'll be fine in that department. IO have also released a statement saying that the game will be much more realistic and have a more epic story than the previous games, as well as many more paths to choose from per level.

Well what do you know... good graphics AND good gameplay/storyline. Kinda hard to beat a combination like that. Now if only they can get it out in the foreseeable future (thinks of the STILL unseen Duke Forever).

Depends on your definition of crappy... certainly, I wouldn't buy any game that looked like it was made in 1986. Guess what I was trying to say is that I rate gameplay as a much more important criterion when choosing games than graphics.

I know that this is usually your job, weta, but IGN PC has a new preview up with some nice new information along with some juicy new screenshots. This game is looking amazing. While the models aren't great themselves, the effects are very nice - distance blur, very nice-looking snow, bloom lighting, reflections...yes, I'm a graphics *****. :p

Andyway, go check it out...or don't...

I've always loved the hitman series, even if by producing them for the consoles they are getting progressively worse :yuc:
