  • updated homepage ability

I was setting up the wife's new desktop replacement yesterday evening.
I've long used MSN as a starting point, and through the use of Passport (and before the existence of Passport) used the MY MSN page to import local news, weather, favorite links, etc. etc.

Well, now we have the ability to go directly to MY MSN as the homepage. No more having to pass go to get to the personalized content.

How long has this been going on, and why didn't anyone tell me?

I think it's about time, and will certainly enjoy this new ability.
Now I get Slate, Wired and all my daily headlines-to-be-browsed in 1 clean shot when I open IE.

OK, perhaps I'm the only 1 who finds this a convenience

    GASP!

I think that my heart just stopped beating. Is this truly Mr C I hear talking about using anything having to do with Microsoft?

I find it to be the nicest place on the beach to surf from:)

I've tried other portals, but that one is just superior for my particular needs/interests and loads fairly quickly when tweaked.
Not having to make it there in 2 hops is kind of nice in a way.

Though the big drawback is, I used to change the plain vanilla MSN window to Google, then I was 100% ready for anything in 4 clicks.

      dood Win 98 lives!

Don't worry Mr. C Win98/SE still lives on here as well along with 2K server and XP but as soon as I can get those extra rooms built in my garden shed a few flavours of Linux will join the crew (though 2K server will likely go back in the drawer along with 3.11, 95, 2K Pro and MEss). :thumb:

I had my first experience with XP setting up that lappy.

I must say, it has some features that the wife will find quite valuable indeed.
Should be great for her --- I just need to get it all tweaked yet.

Tweak a lil bit and you will get your mail, calendar, briefcase, notepad, favourites, weather, current affairs, sports, horoscope and more, all in just one page! (well thats what i use :p)

i don't know why i don't like MSN too much

Maybe because you are a bit more demanding than I.

How long does it take that page to load:?:

Not bad considering all the data being imported.

And if it gets you in position to pursue your online activity with full effectiveness then it is worth the wait I'm sure.
