      nope i m not getting into all this mumbo-jumbo of cooling and great ideas and i m not going to do one-on-one with beefy either...but have you ever heard of serendipity beefy?
      i m no tech-wiz but i would just give you two examples from my field, two of the greatest inventions in medicine in last century.
      penicillin and small-pox vaccine.
      and hey...you ever heard of gregor mendel and wat about charles darwin...he was the guy who was made fun of by saying that his ancestors were monkeys.
      just because its not been done, doesn't mean that it can't be done and in anycase, if millions of dollars have been pumped into it and no results have been there, doesn't mean it can't be done or it has become certain that the results will come from those big labs only.
      edison tried 2000 ways to make a light bulb pal and hey he didn't have those million dollar labs to do so.
      anyways...every one has his/her own opinion but i m with those who think that great ideas produce great results.

        I still don't see where I said that money made the difference... When I mentioned existing companies, I was referring to the fact that they would employ people that have the knowledge and expertise in their field and they would be able to pull off a product.

        I also agree with your point about Darwin and Edison... There were many great inventors / scientists (I use that broadly) of the past who have contributed, single-handedly, to what we know today. People like Curie and Pastuer (sp?) in the field of medicine, Newton, Einstein, Edison, Tesla, etc... in the field of physics and so on.. But in today's world. people don't seem to make evolutionary finds like these people did. Mainly because we have such a greater understanding of what goes on in today's world. When was the last time that one person was heralded for making a great big discovery in those fields...? Most of the time it boils down to research teams and companies that make grand-scale discoveries, not single individuals. A lot of the ideas that do come out are actually just old ideas re-hashed and thrown together to make something that's not really new, but it's a novel idea.

          I for 1 am in your corner Beffy.......as what you refer to as Busting ppls bubbles, when they are on a pink cloud{riding a fantasy}
          I refer to as slapping 'em in their thick lil skulls with a major dose
          of Reality........Can i get a Reality Check here:?:
          And as for the last Individual to create/invent an Original major world find..............i'ld have to say that was an American by the
          name of Buckminster Fuller, better known by his contemporaries/
          friends as Buckie...............inventor of many many useful/original
          items with/without the financial support of the US military. His most noted and best known of those would have to be the Geodesic Dome structure/his World Dymaxium Map..........see
          google under George Buckminster Fuller for more details/photo's.
          And i personally own/operate 2 certified/liscenced Bussiness's,
          neither of which do or are designed to create/make a prophet;
          they both pretty much are meant to copyrite/protect the many
          writtings/invetions of mine/others.....as Buckie, and many others have come to die alone and with a broken heart/pocket book due
          to trusting others to produce/pay them for their ideas {all producing un-beleivable major multi-million/billion dollar industries based on others ideas, and than neglecting the ones responsible for those ideas}. Just my little Balloon bust for all you wanna be invetors!!!
