I have had an issue with a GA-Z87X-UD5 and using 4 sticks of ram resulting in a Post Code of 15 (lack of POST really).
I solved my issue and while I was in the troubleshooting process I realized there is a lack of good working solutions to this problem. So I'll contribute my findings....

Re: GA-X87-UD5 - NIC cuts out frequently for a couple seconds after bios update
Solved:
Seems that when I flashed the bios it did something to my NIC which reset it. Including in windows.
I had to set up my static IP again and it fixed everything. Weird.

I don't know if it's the overclock or the new bios update but it's new AND super annoying!
I'll be streaming a vid or playing BF4 and it will just stop doing anything internet related for about 3 seconds. Just long enough to drop in BF4 or to need the video reset.

Re: GA-X58A-UD7 CPU probs
The "pins" are on the motherboard, not the cpu itself. You *could* have damaged it but I doubt it. Pictures would help.
Bios update then xmp1 setting fixed my problem when I had this issue.
Did you set XMP1 with your ram?

Re: Strange noise at cold boot
It was my cpu fan alarm. I guess the pump doesn't get up to speed under a second so it alerts me it low.
Good to know.

Re: GA-Z87X-UD5H random crash / reboot
Yes, I figured out my crashing issue when it comes to the Nvidia.
some how my Base clock got to 99.99 instead of 100. that .01 did it. Funky issue. I must have page down'd on it by accident and didn't notice.
Hasn't had an issue...
