Re: Gigabyte P35-DS4 - Which Board?

Maybe it's just sample variation, but my rev 2.0 also suffers from the NB heatsink blocking the topmost PCI-e x1 slot. At least, the backs of tuner cards which are not particularly long, such as the Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1800, rub up against...

  • Re: Installing Gigabyte motherboard P35-DS3L in the ATX case

You don't need the washers and shouldn't use them else you will interfere with grounding of the motherboard. Use metal standoffs and screws. Just make sure there is a hole in the motherboard for every installed...

...And install drivers, select "Realtek Digital Output" as the default "Playback" device (YMMV - that's for Vista), unmute the audio, and so forth? I didn't have to do anything special. After uninstalling the...

I've connected it to my Yamaha receiver, and it's working great in Vista Ultimate with WMP11, Zune, Media Center, etc. I haven't tried gaming with it yet, but if it's passable, I'll be selling my Prelude, which is currently sitting...

No doubt. People do argue all sorts of things.

    On that we agree.

BTW, when you said, "As a side note, Vista's memory diagnostics from what I hear is complete fluf," were you just spreading...

Well, you're not being a jerk so much as you've misinterpreted where I'm coming from and so have attributed motivations, attitudes, and conclusions to me which are false. On second thought, you kinda are being a jerk. Of course there will...

    Re: P35-DS4 Memory problems F9

OK, here's some independent verification. I ran the Windows Memory Diagnostic from CD (this is different than the built-in Vista diagnostic), and I got many errors at 0x7FEEDF18. So whatever is wrong with the BIOS, it is affecting MemTest...

Interesting! I just tried this myself (Core 2 Duo E6600, not overclocked, 2x Crucial Ballistix 1GB DDR2-800, 4-4-4-12 @ 2.2v) and got errors in MemTest. I then ran the Vista boot-time Memory Diagnostic, and it completed without error. I've...
