G13man: I'm finding Solaris a bit of a learning experience. It's a bit slow on my hardware (maybe I don't have enough RAM)
It actually comes with StarOffice, which is based on OpenOffice so I'll use that until I can figure out how to install OpenOffice ...

Huh. When I get an un-removable file in Windows I tend to use my Knoppix Live CD.
The latest versions will write to NTFS and so you can delete that difficult file.
(It'll also show all those nice hidden folders and documents that Windows won't show,...

If you have Tinfoil hat Linux, there's a function that you can invoke that changes the screen to a colour combination that makes it extremely difficult to read by scanning the Van Eck Radiations.

This is where I go for my hardware and they are very good.
They sell things for near wholesale price. You do have to wait a lot of the time, but it's worth it.

Ubuntu is a good distro for beginners, yet is very powerful if you go behind the scenes, at it were. Also, one of the major good things about Ubuntu (or Kubuntu, or Xubuntu, etc.) is that you can order the CDs and they get delivered for free. Nice if you don't...
