  • nVidia Conference Call Notes from nV News

NVIDIA's Earnings Conference Call will begin in a few minutes. Click the headline to listen in.
Jen-Hsun Huang, President and CEO of NVIDIA, is "under the weather" and introductory and forward looking remarks were made by Vice President of Investor Relations and Communications Michael Hara.

Delighted with the performance of the GeForce FX with "first generation" drivers and to expect continued driver updates. Huang mentions the increased complexity of driver development due to the GeForce FX architecture in the Q&A session.

Aggressively ramping multiple products based on TSMC's 0.13-micron process.

nForce2 platform processor is the performance and features leader.

Record performance in mobile and workstation graphics processors.

GeForce FX architecture will be extended to all graphics product lines.

Expects 1.5 million GeForce FX GPU's to be shipped during the 1st quarter of this year.
Question and Answer Session with Huang and Marvin Burkett, Chief Financial Officer:

TNT, GeForce4 Ti, Quadro, and nForce2 were in "allocation" during the 4th quarter and hopes to end soon. Needs to improve upon predicting supply and demand for their products.

The GeForce FX desktop lineup will range in price from $99 to $399.

The GeForce MX continues to be a strong seller.

TSMC's 0.13 micron yields are in-line with expectations, but would like them to be better, with lower cycle time, and lower wafer cost. Huang jokingly says other than that, it's perfect.

GeForce FX expectations are high and will make a significant contribution to revenue this quarter.

Desperately trying to get GeForce FX out to the market place.

Still passionate about the enthusiast graphics market. Receives high visibility and press coverage.

Huang jokingly denies knowing what NV31 and NV34 are when asked if they were going to use DDR2 memory.

Microsoft, MSI, and ASUS are NVIDIA's top three customers.

On NV30 refresh - Huang asks "What is that?" and jokingly comments that he's heavily medicated, but is working on something "twice as fast."
All in all, it was an upbeat question and answer session. Concerns over the GeForce FX didn't appear to be an issue.
