  • Crossfire Same Model, Different Revision #

I'd like to crossfire my XFX ATI HD 4890 with another that might not have the same revision number.

Will this be a problem and how do I find out what revision number my card is.

    Thanks in advance, Roger

The 48xx cards should all crossfire fine.

Good to know it will work, not sure if I will ever do it, but sometimes a good buy comes up on ebay. What's more likely to happen is I'll upgrade some of my system down the road.

eBay isn't the place to find a bargain on GPUs. You'd be better off trying for sale sections in certain PC forums (like OCAU and PCPP).

Thanks for the heads up, I didn't even think of looking there. I'd be interested in knowing if I'd gain any performance in COD Black Ops with the dual card set-up. I looked at the specs for the game & its looks like I will be all right with my current rig, but I'll have to see once I get the game from Santa.

you should be able to play that game with one gpu,4890 is slightly quicker than the 5770 and i can play it fine, look here

ATI/AMD is much more flexible in crossfire options than nVidia in SLI. Not only can you crossfire the HD 4890 with different revision numbers, you can CF with different models. Here is the AMD crossfire chart:
