  • GeForce GTX 460 Palit Sonic vs Gainward Golden Sample

    Hi all,

I am wondering what's the difference between:
    GeForce GTX 460 Palit Sonic
GeForce GTX 460 Palit Sonic Platinum
    and
Gainward GeForce GTX 460 Golden Sample
Gainward GeForce GTX 460 Goes Like Hell

I know that Gainward = Palit but I am interested in OC my video card so is cooling in those cards the same (in which ones)?

    I saw here
    http://vr-zone.com/articles/fastest-...l-/9364-2.html

that both Gainwards have GP heatpipes so they have the same cooling? or Golden Sample miss something?

Different memory amount (768-1024), graphics clock (675-800), memory interface (192-256bit) and of course different prices +200$.
    Gizas! what a mess :)

thanks for quoting basically what he said and the link he posted, but that doesn't answer any of the questions at hand. I've been looking for quite some time now and can't find any differences between the different models. I haven't even looked at the gainward cards, but for the Palits, I've noticed 4 different options:

      1. GeForce® GTX 460 (768M GDDR5)
      2. GeForce® GTX 460 Sonic (1024MB GDDR5)
      3. GeForce® GTX 460 Sonic Platinum (1024MB GDDR5)
      4. GeForce® GTX 460 Sonic 2GB (2048MB GDDR5)

so, once again... are the only differences between #2 and #3 the clock speeds? how about #3 and #4? Just slapped an extra gig of memory on there? or is there more effective cooling slapped on there? Is the 2GB actually utilized on card #4 as the tweaktown press release article implies, or is that just a marketing gimmick? I'd like to see some more reviews on these cards than just the sonic platinum (& the OC thereof), personally.

        gainward gs ^
gs-glh comes with a higher clock just like sonic platinum comes with a higher clock.
gainward gs 1 gb (for me) seems just as good as gs-glh.
        Cooling etc looks the same.
2gb edition seems to be for a v large screen size monitor, but if u have sli perhaps 2 x 768 mb would be faster.

latest nvidia 260.99 drivers seem v good.
nb gpu is running at 850mhz(its covered by vantage mark score).
