  • GTX 260 overclock issues

hey all, i have a EVGA GTX 260 SC , this thing will hardly overclock. Stock core speed is 626, upping it to 650 causes artifacts after about a minute or so in AtiTool. Im sure juicin this thing up will not have a huge effect, its just bugging me since all i see everywhere is people taking these cards past 700mhz core speed. As well as the memory and shader clock being overclocked well past stock speeds.

Anybody else have this issue or similar?

Anybody have this issue and get it figured out?

Any response is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Maybe card is faulty cause i read the 260's are fine to oc.
could be to do with mobo?, i can't oc the memory on mine much.

it sometimes just boils down to the gpu chip just can't handle it, some can some can't. Just comes down to how well it was manufactured and the quality of the silicon.

Use EVGA overclocking tool, I have 3 of them, and all work great

I do use EVGA precision when i try to overclock. The Atitool is just for scanning artifacts.

Maybe ask the question at the EVGA 260 fourms.

              Re: GTX 260 overclock issues

I have posted on EVGA's forums. Crap. No responses to a simple question that does not really have any related posts, so it has not already been answered. And after reading some of the posts these put on there, i decided to stick with Tweaktown. Many people on EVGA forums are rude and sound like 12 year olds (at best) .

I just dont like mean people is all it is.

                Re: GTX 260 overclock issues

Does it just mess up with ati tool? I think EVGA tell customers to use FurMark. Is it under warranty? if so try furmark, if it does not pass RMA it.

                  Re: GTX 260 overclock issues

Hey all, think i posted this elsewhere , the atitool was the problem. I downloaded the same version from the same server on my bro's computer and it did the same thing. Got the same version from a different server and everythings great.

Took it straight up to 700 1400 1200 for 1.5 hours. Went perfectly. Didnt get any hotter like i thought it would.

                  Thanks all.
