Hey zach just saying wassup? I think the price of the 7800gs is not worth how close the 6800gs is in performance. The cine fx 4.0, heh i wouldent worry about it.

@ AsianBatman .....They are recent releases

@ Zach ...... check around, there are a couple of models of 7800GS, I saw one reviewed at clocks of 470/1300. Also according to the Guru3D (the home of Unwinder and RivaTuner) review of the 7800GS there are no unlockable pipelines in the 7800's

The 7800GS is significantly better than the 6800GS and will probably be the last AGP offering from nVidia. Whether or not the performance improvement is worth the price increase is up to you. Your CPU will limit the 7800GS in some games, while the 6800GS is a near-perfect match for it.

6800GS is a kick ass card. I got 2 of them in SLI and they run perfect! I had 2 7800GTX cards in this system and they were extremely bottlenecked. These cards are definitely not and I am extremely happy! And the AGP version is almost a guarranty to unlock.

eVGA has a lifetime warrenty too, in fact its even better than BFG's. I used to be a BFG fan. Now with eVGA since I can overclock, replace the stock heatsink, and do anything to the card as long as I dont physicaly damage it, the warrenty is still valid.

Absolutely right, fully guaranteed against anything besides physical damage. EVGA has the best warranty available today.

What are Unlockable pipelines? How do they help or hurt you?

Unlockable pipelines are good as long as the actual pipes are good. Most of the 6800GS AGP cards have 4 unlockable pixel pipelines and that improves performance. The PCI-E versions do not have these hidden pipelines as they use a different core.

Basically, they all come with 12 Pixel Pipelines. The AGP version has 4 hidden pipelines that brings the total to 16. Sometimes, the extra pipelines are no good and you cannot either open them, or they just malfunction and you would have to close them.

What kind of power supply would you need for this? I have a 500W in my older machine and my 6600 AGP did not work. I have about 6 HD's in this system plus 2 DVD-RW's. It's a nv a7n8x-E Deluxe based system.

Once I get this 7800 gs or 6800 gs it'll become my wife's machine. (ok, it'll become mine, since she's taken over the pci-e machine hahhahahah 7800gtx for solitaire can you dig it!!!)

This makes absolutely no sense at all. Why in the world would you build a system like that and then use it that way. Must be nice to have money to toss away. If she only plays solitaire, get a 6200 for this PC and take the 7800GTX back. Just plain a waste.
