    hallo i have an e machines imperial motherboard al845ge i think my agp slot is 4x will all apg cards run in this slot or does a 4x need a 4x and 8x need 8x so on if so i have ati 9200series card what can i upgrade to help me please someone im going mad

    While in theory the higher AGP standards supposedly create huge bandwidth enhancements, the main concept we generally consider with AGP ports is the voltage. AGP8x can run on 0.8v while AGP4x requires 1.5v boards. Most motherboards support at least two of these standards. If you download a utility like SiSoft Sandra, it can give you information regarding the AGP capabilities of your particular motherboard. Either that or you can research your Intel based design and check that way.

    FYI... testing has shown a negligible difference between 4x and 8x AGP formats.
