  • Whats VSYNC?

While installing games on my new system, I've ran across many that suppot VSYNC. By defualt this has always been disabled. Should I be enabling this setting in the video game menus when I'm using an ATI Radeon X700 pro video card?

No. I'm mostly just curious if someone knows if my card supports it and if I should have it enabled for better performance.

Disable it. It limits the video performance to an FPS rate no higher than the refresh rate that the monitor is set to. It usually gives worse performance numbers.

Thanks for the info. My highest monitor refresh rate with this 18in LCD screen is 75mhz so that wouldn't be a good thing.

Refresh rate is not meausered by MHZ. It is Hertz.

I keep mine on for games since it prevent tearing..since my 17inch flat supports only 75 mhz i mean hetz...but for benchmarks..turn it off to recieve better results.

Yeah, I keep it on because I get terrible tearing effects with it off.

                        Re: Whats VSYNC?

Maybe I'm lucky but I have yet to have problems with tearing of the display no matter what game or benchmark I use. This is using both a CRT and an LCD monitor.
