  • Do Geforce4 Mx440 Cards Support Dx8

I see confliction articles saying whether or not the geforce4 MX440 cards support DX8.
Can anyone that has one of these variant cards please inform me as to whether or not they do support DX8.

    Cheers
    Aaron

No the MX line of GF4's does not support DX8 though they will run games based on it but the quality will be noticable as certain properties will not be shown as they're meant to be. :smokin:

its a pitty...the mx440 could have been an even better card if they'd included all dx8 support. s'pose they didn't because they want people to get the most expensive one instead, lol.

That would have been a fair comment in 1998, but developers such as John Carmack are becoming increasingly isolated in their support of OpenGL. Why? Microsoft has invested significant amounts of resources into developing DirectX, to the point where the performance drops are nowhere as bad as they used to be. The only real advantage of OpenGL (IMHO) is that it is cross-platform :)
