  • My 9800 oddity

Finally picked up my Sapphire 9800 np today, and I must say Iam very pleased. Consequently the ATI Control panel is showing it as a 9800 Pro? I used a tweak utility to check the core/mem speeds and they appear to be right for a non-pro @ 325/578 BUT I tried oc'ing it and it runs stable at a core speed of 410mhz  Anyone else had or heard of something similar? As well it definately hasn't been modded because it uses the newer infineon(?) memory. Odd huh?

Its fairly common for a 9800np to be detected as a 9800pro, and you can tend to OC it to Pro speeds :)

No, that is perfectly normal, all 9800 cards say pro even if it is np. The clock speeds you have are of a np. I myself have the same card oc'ed to 440/320x2. I flashed it to pro bios but there isn't really any difference because i have infieneon 3.0ns chips. So your card is fine. Just oc that baby up then you should be fine.
