  • are T-bred Athlons unlocked?

hm i just got a new t-bred 1800+ and i'm wondering are t-breds unlocked? becuase i've read lots of things about t-breds being easily overclockable, just wondering if they're unlocked or can my motherboard unlock it?

    have a soyo kt400 ultra

You'll need to reconnect the last L3 bridge to unlock the CPU as your motherboard isn't capable of doin' that for you. The Epox 8K9A series motherboards can do this though. ;)

I'm not positive, but I do believe they are unlocked natively... meaning the Throughbred "a" version of the Athlon XP. So that would mean you don't have to go through all the work of unlocking the bridges on the cpu. But don't take my word on that. :)

They will only unlock on certains boards but here's the interactive bridge guide for Thoroughbreds, http://www.ocinside.de/go_e.html?/ht..._painting.html, and this will show the process though on a Palamino, http://www.tweaktown.com/document.ph...ew&dId=203. It will help more if ya keep ya related questions in the one thread as well. ;)

:hammer: *ahem* If you look more closely you'll realize that those guides are for the throughbred "b" versions of the AthlonXP which start at 2600+... not the throughbred "a" version which I believe begin at 1700+ and end at 2400+ <?>

I'll do some research later on today to see if I can find out if they're truly, and natively, unlocked or not.

Then you must be thinkin' of the Palamino core as there is no difference in the bridges between a Thoroughbred A or B. Here's the link for Palaminos, http://www.ocinside.de/html/workshop..._painting.html ;)
