  • EAH4770 issue's

Just got this card made by ASUS and installed it on this..

    Win XP 32bit home
    AMD athlon X2 6000
2gb DDR Corsair mem (5600 or something)
    Gigabyte MA770-UD3 mobo
520 true power supply with a 6pin power supply

When this card arrived it was to replace an aging ATI 2600HD card, and this is the proceedure I did to replace it.

Before replaceing said card I downloaded the latest Catalyst from AMD/ATI for the 4770 after selecting my operating system.
I then removed all ATI software and reset the PC.
Switched it off and installed the card and connected the 6 pin to it.
turned it on and awaited Windows to stop faffing about with new hardware found etc.
Installed the the new drivers and catalyst software, reset the PC and changed RES to 1280X1024 which is my prefered resolution for my screen. I noticed a tremble when I moved the catalyst control centers window around, like a flickering. I opened a browser and the flickering got worse, seems the more animate the page is the more it flickers, very annoying.

I uninstalled and re-installed, downloaded it a 2nd time to see the same flickering, so I thought well maybe ASUS does require its own drivers, so I uninstalled and reinstalled useing the disk provided, it still flickers but now it maybe worse than before, so I checked ASUS website for a newer driver set and downloaded it, removed old driver and installed the newer ASUS drivers, Still flickers.

I have sent in a report to ASUS tech support and have so far had no reply. I am sorry for the long read, but does anyone have a clue how I get around this?

Yes I would replace the card. Have you tried that yet?

      Re: EAH4770 issue's

You mean that you feel that my new card is faulty, if so I am also starting to think the same.
If you meant that the card is not a super new tech card and I should spend twice the money on something better, I cannot afford to and this is the best card for the money I could find

Thanks for the reply. I'll await ASUS response before I repackage it and send it back to Amazon.
