Building PCs for video editing class and have a question.

I am building some PCs for a video editing class we are starting. I have most of the materials picked out what I will be using. The CPU will be the Xeon E3-1230 V2. We cannot overclock so I am going with a Xeon cpu. Anyway my question is with video editing and no gaming, Do I need an aftermarket cooler? Thanks.

I was wondering if the item I will be talking about is a good thing or just a gimmick. I don't know if I would use it but it is on the board anyway.

From now on just connect the monitor to your motherboard, and connect your secondary device to the motherboard's HDMI-In port. Users can conveniently toggle between the computer's screen and the secondary device's screen with a hotkey, or even use the secondary device without powering on the computer.

This is found on the ASRock boards.

I was also wondering about these three boards and what would be the best one for a video editing board. It is going to be between one of these 3. The Asus is the only one with 1 USB 3.0 so I will have to buy an add on card for that but that makes it on par for price with the other two. No OC or games, just video editing. Thanks.

The Xeon E3-1230 V2 cpu from post #1 is an Ivy Bridge 1155 cpu.
The motherboards you listed in post #4 are Haswell 1150 models.
You need to decide which platform you want to use and confirm that the motherboard you want has the cpu model listed in the supported cpu list.
Newegg - Intel Server CPUs is a list of all Exon processors available at Newegg and includes models from LGA 771 through LGA 2011.

If your video editing software takes full advantage of multi-core processing, you might be better off buying a quad core cpu that has hyper threading with 8 cores, but the cpu cost might be about $100 higher. If your cpu case has excellent air flow and cooling fans, you might be able to get by with the stock Intel cpu heatsink/cooler, but I don't know if Xeon processors come with a stock cpu heatsink and cooling fan. Your might find that an aftermarket cpu cooler that costs ~ $40 or more will provide adequate cooling.
