Just bought a i5-3570k and ASUS P877-V Pro and just on the stock heatsink I'm getting 4.2Ghz P95 stable. Heat is about 65-70C on Asus probe and about 85-88C on coretemp. Overclock was acheived using asus auto tune in the BIOS
So the question is just what kind of difference would buying a good heatsink like a thermalright true or a hyper 212 do?
95-99% of the time I'm just surfing the net and doing college courses on MS office 2010.
Poster is an experienced overclocker although somewhat out of the loop for the last year or so, just upgraded from a Gigabyte P55-usb3 i3-550 combo which also did 4.2ghz
Superpi mod 1.5 1M is 8.932 which is a lot faster than my p55-usb3 combo by about a second.
